QR code payment makes it possible to quickly identify a customer and link their purchase to their loyalty account or wallet, depending on the payment methods enabled by the business. The code can be shown on the restaurant’s screen for the customer to scan with their phone, or conversely, the customer presents their own personal QR code that the operator scans at the till.
It is a direct evolution of mobile payment, designed to reduce friction at the counter: no looking for change, no code to enter, no card to insert. A single scan is enough.
